A 41 year old diver has died while carrying out underwater work in the waters off St Paul’s Islands in Malta on Monday, August 10.
The Malta Police Force said officers were informed of the incident at around noon. The diver was brought ashore at Buġibba by members of the Armed Forces of Malta, where a medical team provided assistance. He was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.
TVM News later identified the diver as Redeemer Grima, a 41 year old resident of Rabat. The official police statement confirmed the victim’s age and that he was a resident of Rabat, but did not name him.

Magistrate Monica Borg Galea was informed of the case and appointed an inquiry to determine the cause of death. Police investigations are also continuing together with Malta’s Occupational Health and Safety Authority.
Authorities have not released further details about the underwater work Grima was carrying out or the circumstances that led to the incident. No information has so far been officially provided regarding the depth of the dive, equipment involved, dive profile, or medical cause of death.
